Due to COVID restrictions we are still unable to have parents on campus. As a College we value this interaction between home and school and understand that in not coming in you are missing some of the action of what is happening, so I hope you enjoyed the above video.
Here is more of a wrap up of what has been happening so far this term:
Prep
It has been amazing to see Prep students actively engaging in writing sentences. Some are up to writing two to three sentences on their own!
In Media Arts they have been using an iPad to take photos of what they like about school and then making it into a digital story book.
In PBL they have looked at what makes things move and they made their own moving toy or machine with a class partner.
Year 1
100 days at school has been a big celebration for our Year 1 classrooms and this culminated in a dress up day, like you are 100 years old!
In science they looking at properties of materials and have completed experiments with playdough and ice. In English they are studying 'once upon a time' stories, even changing a character within the story and retelling it in their own words.
Year 2
The students report that they are pushing their brains learning lots of Maths at the moment! They are balancing this with learning the game of cricket in HPE lessons and they found a new love of the sandpit at break times.
They have looked at how to find things using Google maps as part of their PBL 'special places' unit of learning.
Year 3
Students have been busy studying the connection between the earth, sun and moon, including using kids pix to draw their interpretations of this.
In Japanese they have been practicing writing in Hiragana script. Practicing their skills of community service, the students are currently writing letters to send to a retirement village in Victoria.
Year 4
What is the difference between area and perimeter? Ask the Year 4鈥檚 to sing the song they have been learning in Maths.
In Christian Studies they are looking at the Life of Jesus which will culminate in a diorama. Combining English and technology, Year 4 students have made bristle bots out of a toothbrush head, motor and battery and are now starting to write the matching procedural text as a PowerPoint.
Year 5
The classroom is starting to take the form of the small beachside town of Dingo Creek. Students will take on the roles and perspectives of people in the community and look at the pros and cons of the town, developing to become more tourist orientated.
